Reccomended by the salesman, but;
A, will they fit
B, are they any good?

They will fit but no idea if any good.

I've used alpine and pioneer all my life so all these new names are risky unless I've heard them myself.
I also always amp my component speakers with a four way amp or even two way high capacity amp at low so the quality comes out a lot better. 60 watts peak power and 20 watts rms was run with a 400 watt two channel amp and the sound quality was outstanding.

Are you amping the door speakers in your GTI? If so, how much of a job was it to do?

Sorry to have confused you buddy but I was referring to my previous cars like the reno5 gtt uno turbo Peugeot gti's golf mk3. Haven't done anything to the golf as yet but would like to replace the door speakers at some point and may go for what I've alway although one of my mk3 came with 3 way component speakers and were really good. Can't remember the name though but I may have one speaker at home  in a box with 0g wiring kit and a huge fuse holder from back in 2001 :signLOL:

Wow I haven't seen 0gauge cable since my saxo vts days with 2x12" subs and 2x1000w amps in the boot. That got the tailgate warping

I'm like to amp my door speakers in the Golf(the fronts at least). Don't know if I want the hassle though.

It will definitely be worth that hassle  :rolleye:
I've learned that amping the surround doesn't blow them like when your trying to pump them up with normal stereo output. Just something I've noticed in my good old days  :signLOL:

Yes 0g was the beast of those days and still is for the people who know what they do for the sound. wink wink I don't use 8g as this heats up too quickly and drains way too much juice from the battery. A family frI ends Mercedes caught fire when he didn't listen to me regards the thin wires and was running my two 750watt v12 alpine amps and two x 15 type r subs  :stupid: fool lost 2k worth of sound.

I'm running 4g for my sub at the moment. Still using a V12 amp too! Best one I've ever owned by far

They're awesome amps  :happy2: change the wiring and you'll heare the difference.

I have a V12 MRD 500 digital amp and 4 channel V12 amp sitting on the cupboard still boxed and one is in the for sale section but may not sell it even if there is interest as the MRDM500  it's one mental amp and I nearly bought another for £60 but didn't as I've kind of gone off heavy sound systems being married and kids.

digital £900 sound field harmonic enhancer processor equaliser with built in cd player also sitting up the too  :signLOL:

Yeah mine is an MRD 500. Don't think I'll ever grow out of sound systems though. Can't stand the poor quality most manufacturers put in cars!

@Bigjimknickers sorry for hijacking your post by the way. From what I've sound/read 'in phase' are alright, as in they're better than factory speakers.
